"I stand here to bring you greetings from your friends and brothers from the Central African Republic in the name of the Lord, Jesus Christ."

These words resonated throughout Sunne Lutheran Church on Saturday as Reverend Andre Golike, President of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in the Central African Republic (C.A.R.), addressed the congregation.

One hundred and forty people, from areas as far away as Bottineau and Minneapolis, were present to hear Golike speak.

Many area churches also sent representatives to Sunne for the event. Those churches included St. Luke Lutheran, Wishek; Lord of Life, Faith Lutheran and First Lutheran, Bismarck; and the Trinity Lutheran Churches of Bismarck, Steele and Napoleon.

Golike described some of the on-going violence in his country; violence that has been taking place since March 24, 2013.

He spoke of rebel attacks to church-goers, as they simply attend worship.
