More sports supporters needed

Sports fans of the Washburn Cardinals have the chance to be more than just seasonal fans, they can help support the teams all year by becoming a member of the Washburn Cardinals Sports Booster Club. Jayne Pochant, treasurer of the booster club, said members help to promote and support the sports through volunteering, fundraising and financial assistance. The cost to become a member is $20 annually for singles or couples. In the past that money has gone to buy team equipment, food, computers, signs, uniforms, and technology upkeep and support summer open gym. Pochant and board member Kristi Schreiner said that much of the needs for this year have not come forward yet, however, there are a couple projects they would like to see come through soon. "We are looking at doing some work on the baseball field," Pochant said.
