Nelson to acquire local banks

After 13 years with Farmers Security Bank and three years as president, Jamie Nelson is looking at a big change in her role in the banking industry.
Nelson, of Washburn, has applied to obtain 55 percent of the shares of McLean Bank Holding Company, which owns Farmers Security Bank, Garrison State Bank and the Bank of Turtle Lake.
The potential purchase has been in the works for over a year and a half, Nelson said.
“Jan Stroup contacted me in March 2018 about selling his shares to me,” Nelson said.
Nelson said she immediately knew she was interested.
