New gallery opening

Art is being picked out, construction plans are being made, and sometime this summer, a new gallery will open in downtown Bismarck through the Lewis and Clark Fort Mandan Foundation.
The Foundation, known for the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center in Washburn, will be branching out and creating a retail gallery in the now vacant Woolworth building on the corner of Main Avenue and Fourth Street in Bismarck.
"It really makes sense to bring art into Bismarck," Foundation President David Borlaug said. There’s a really growing art gallery community in Bismarck that we will become part of, but we will be really unique."
The gallery will also house several offices for the Foundation, though most of the building space is reserved for the art that Borlaug is already picking out.
"We’re gonna start out with Walter Piehl, who is a little expressive and a little more out there, and then Gary Miller, who is very traditional and very popular," Borlaug said.
