NWS confirms closest tornado to McLean County was Sweet Briar region

After two weeks of being hit hard by wind, hail and tornadoes, the National Weather Service confirmed the closest tornado that landed near McLean County was in the Sweet Briar region.
That tornado was confirmed to be an EF2.
“We are in severe weather season,” said NWS Meteorologist Josh Adam, from the Bismarck office. “We know this is what we can anticipate this time of year. There hasn’t been really any big shifts in North Dakota.”
The state saw numerous tornadoes between two different storm events. The first taking place June 20 and spreading from Central to Eastern North Dakota, which resulted in fatalities in Ransom County.
