In the deep of winter, outdoor construction projects aren't usually top of mind.
But they are for the state Attorney General's office. Cases that were first investigated in McLean County and later in western reaches of the state led to felony charges of two men Friday.
Sean Patrick Gorman, 26, and Bartley Gorman Jr., 55, were charged with a illegally conducting an enterprise and exploitation of an eligible adult. An eligible adult means someone 65 years or older or someone with a disability. Sean Patrick Gorman was also charged with attempted theft of property.
Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem issued a cease and desist order Friday against the two men and “as many of the aliases as we can determine,” he said. In a press release, Stenehjem said a group of individuals have been using the guise of contractor's license to perpetuate scams against unsuspecting homeowners across the state.
