Painted Woods opens simulator league

Painted Woods Golf Course isn’t letting winter get in the way of the game. Instead, they’re bringing it inside, with a state-of-the-art golf simulator machine that allows golfers to play year round.

Painted Woods Head Golf Pro Jeffrey Rasmussen said that the simulator was installed last spring, but only used for a short period of time before the weather warmed up and the 18-hole outdoor course opened back up for the season.

But now that winter is firmly here to stay, the simulator is up and running, projecting dozens of different courses onto a screen for players to drive and putt at every Thursday or any other time by appointment.

"We open it Thursday nights from 5 to 10 p.m." Rasmussen said. "We serve foods those nights and we have a bar. Anybody is welcome."

If that night doesn’t work, people can call and make appointments at the price of $15 for members or $20 for non-members. A minimum of two hours must be booked for each appointment, but as many people can come and golf in each group during the session for that set hourly rate.

"Hopefully they like it enough where we can get a mini-league set up from March to April or something," Rasmussen said.
