Students from across McLean County gathered Feb. 11 at Washburn Public School for the annual MATHCOUNTS competition, which brings together middle school teams for a series of timed problem-solving rounds.
MATHCOUNTS, founded in 1983, is a national program aimed at building problem-solving skills and encouraging interest in STEM fields. Students advance from school to chapter, state and national levels through written and oral contests. The program also provides free classroom resources for teachers and volunteers.
