Continuing with tradition, the Leader-News takes a look back at the happenings of the year prior. In this issue, we are featuring part one, January-June.

January

A house located at 206 McLean Avenue, Wilton, exploded into shambles on Jan. 2, due to the alleged tampering of a natural gas valve in the basement. Ernest Miller, Utah, was charged with Class C felony endangerment by fire or explosion.

Curt Olson announced his candidacy for McLean County Sheriff; a week later, Sheriff Don Charging announced he would not be seeking re-election.

McLean County deputies Richard Hoffer, Cody Meadows and Justin Cote received the Commemorative Coin Award for their dedication in reducing motor vehicle fatalities and injuries.

Kenneth Monk, a child sex offender from California, targeted Wilton's Presbyterian Church, walking away with $200, a tank of gas and a meal and shower at a parishioner’s home.
