Washburn School Board members got their first look at what a possible school remodel project could cost last week, with the full estimate topping $5 million.
Consolidated Construction presented figures March 11 on what all four phases of a proposed project would cost Washburn Public School, with the full price tag estimated at $5,711,623. Superintendent Brad Rinas said this amount was likely a high estimate, and the true amount could likely be lower.
The full project covered four proposed phases.
Phase 1 prioritized handicap accessibility throughout the entire building, with an elevator being installed in the old wing of the school.
Phase 2 moved the weightroom from the second floor to a first-floor classroom and relocated upper elementary classrooms to the third floor.
