Shell station now in Washburn

By Michael Johnson, Editor

The dinosaur has become extinct in Washburn as the Sinclair station, Highway 83 Express, is now part of the Shell family. Carla and Dick Bickert have owned and operated the gas station/convenience store for 12 years at that location under the Sinclair name. The Bickerts will continue to own and operate the business, but they’ll be selling the Shell gasoline products. “We’re excited about it,” Dick said. Bickert said working with Sinclair was a good fit. But, when Shell was looking to expand into the North Dakota range, the Washburn location was one of the first to be asked to consider. Washburn is one of 10 stations in the first wave Shell made. Bickert said that he’s excited about the change and hopes that customers are too. “I think it’s going to be a good move,” Carla said.
