Annual caroling event set for Sunday

What started over 30 years ago with a cookie exchange between friends has become an annual tradition that brings some extra warmth
to Washburn each holiday season. This Sunday, the annual Ladies Caroling event will return to town, with a group of local women set to share Christmas joy everywhere from local homes to the county jail. “We go down the hallway of the jail … and sing to the inmates and wow, it is quite emotional,” Jill Wiese said of the event. “Many of them sing along with us and peek out the bars and you can tell they are just amazed that there are carolers singing to them in the jail.” The group of women, donning festive holiday attire, travel via bus around
town to deliver the Christmas carols and holiday treats that stem back to the time before caroling was part of the tradition.
