SPRUCING UP THE HALL

SPRUCING UP THE HALL

There’s a whole lot of shakin’ going on at the Victor B. Wallin Post 12 in Downtown Washburn, where
construction workers and cement trucks can be seen laying down new concrete around the American LegionMemorial Hall.

The new sidewalk, parking lot and alleyway renovations are part of the improvements on display in and around the Main Avenue facility, which has also been the site of other new additions in recent years, including a refurbished kitchen, an elevator and drain tile to curb rampant flooding.

One of the driving forces behind these upgrades is The American Legion’s Gaming Manager Terry Dworshak, who helped facilitate the ongoing concrete installation with a little assistance from Great River Energy (GRE). To date, the Minnesota-based electric transmission and generation cooperative has provided 120 yards of cement to the repaving project, along with a possible 50 yards more needed for the building’s
parking ramp.
