As the doors close on Great River Energy’s Stanton Station, leftover pieces of furniture and equipment are finding new homes in the surrounding communities.
In an effort to thank local residents and businesses, GRE is donating office equipment and supplies from the retired Stanton Station plant. Useful items have been given to food banks, schools and other community organizations, like the Washburn Public Library.
Librarian Elizabeth Patterson said the library recently received a table and chair from GRE.
“It will be a place for those with laptops to come in and sit down,” Patterson said of the new furniture.
The Underwood Community Cupboard also received a donation from the Stanton Station’s contents, and another $100,000 went to colleges in North and South Dakota.
