Storm drops first snow of season

Southern McLean County awoke to a heavy blanket of snow that marked the winter’s first accumulation of the white stuff. Freezing rain and gusts of wind preceded up to a half of a foot of snow that fell on the area Thursday. Flurries started late on Nov. 10, with winds creating
drifting throughout the area as snow fell. The National Weather Service recorded around 4 inches in the Washburn area, with closer to 6 near Wilton as snow depth grew moving south. Highest totals were observed near New Salem and Mandan, who received 16 inches and 14.5 inches, respectively.
