Students and adults reflect heroes

By Danielle Abbott

A hero is defined as a person with distinguished courage or abilities that is admired for their brave deeds and noble qualities. Children and adults alike are always looking up to and respecting others. Through a lifetime, countless people can be considered heroes, and the activities and actions of others can always inspire and lead. On Monday, the students and faculty at the Washburn Elementary School were given the chance to reflect upon their heroes. Replacing the school’s American flag started off the hero day. The old flag had tattered edges that continued to fringe off in the fall winds. North Dakota Highway Patrolman Rick Richard joined the festivities, along with area Cub and Boy Scouts.
