Trees along Cty. 22 slide are to be burned

By Michael Johnson, Editor

A representative of Martin Construction visited commissioners to get approval to bury trees in the ground on the John Renner property, which bordered on the city limits. The trees were removed from Renner property in order to move dirt for a slide area repair on County Road 22. The DOT required the company gain approval from the  local zoning authority to dispose of the materials. The commission was not in favor of allowing the burying of trees or burning them on the site. They suggested he move the trees out of city limits and burn them. It would violate the burn ordinance the city just approved if they allowed him to burn them in the city limits. He said that burning the trees would work, and he would likely not do so until this winter, after the trees had time to dry.
