Two new businesses building in Washburn

By Michael Johnson, Editor

Owners of River Ag Inc., Clark Price and Paul Bichler, visited with city commissioners on Sept. 26 to see if their new business would get the OK for 10 years of 100 percent tax exemption. With little question, commissioners approved the application. The city received no public comment regarding the property tax incentive for the business. The business deals with sales and processing of agricultural seed, sales of livestock pharmaceuticals and equipment, as well as ag service items. Construction is set to start immediately and be complete by January. The property the new business is being constructed on is being leased. The new warehouse building will be 80 feet long by 180 feet wide by 21 feet tall and used for storage. There will be an attached 40 by 60 wood store with retail and services available. The owners expect to have seven full-time employees and two part-time employees. The annual amount of the tax exemption comes to about $8,400 with a market value of about $750,000.
