Voglewede proud to become part of school, community

By Michael Johnson, Editor

The role of a principal is to provide leadership in such a way that brings out the best in teaching staff and students. The new elementary principal, Jerad Voglewede says he’s working hard to get to know the school and the staff in order to be prepared to continue to lead the school and its students toward success. In order to do that well, he has plans of being heavily involved, from making sure the kids get off the bus OK in the morning to seeing them away at the end of the day. Voglewede, a native of Carrington, was one of 15 candidates for the elementary principal position at Washburn and he finds it to be a privilege to be chosen to work in a town that he and his family have come to enjoy. Voglewede made several trips to the community in the process of making sure this was going to be a good fit for him and his family. He said he came away from the interview process feeling good about this job. “When I left, I felt like this is a great team of teachers to work with,” Voglewede said.
