Washburn accepts three open enrollment applications; loses one to TLM

Washburn Public School accepted three new open enrollment students and lost one student to another district as of its January meeting.
The Washburn Public School Board of Education held a meeting Jan. 12 where they considered three applications for open enrollment.
According to meeting minutes published in the March 12 edition of the Leader-News, the applications received were for an eighth-grade, seventh-grade and fifth-grade students with requests for transportation.
A motion was made by board member Luke Ratterath and seconded by board member Stacey Scheresky to approve the applications, which was unanimously approved.
During Superintendent Penny Veit-Hetletved’s report to the board, she noted a Washburn student open enrolled to the Turtle Lake-Mercer Public School District.
