Washburn AD is Power of Influence finalist

There’s no doubt a coach has the power to influence the lives of hundreds – if not thousands – of youth through the life of their career. The American Football Coaches Foundation (AFCF) works to promote those coaches who have had a positive influence on the lives of the players. Washburn Athletic Director and head football coach Pete Moe was recently chosen as a finalist for the Power of Influence award that’s presented annually by the AFCF to a deserving coach. Moe was nominated for the award by the North Dakota State High School Coaches Association. Moe is a past president of the North Dakota High School Coaches Association. Each year, each state association nominates one coach for the prestigious award. Twelve are chosen as finalists, and only one in the nation receives the award. Nominees for the award are to be active football coaches. They should have a positive influence reflected through community service, mentoring and role modeling. The nomination should also be measured by the lives the coach has touched and changed. The award is not based on the number of wins and losses. The award will be presented to coach Noel Dean who was nominated by the Michigan High School Football Coaches Association.
