Washburn advances first reading of winter parking ordinance
The Washburn City Commission approved the first reading of a proposed amendment to Ordinance 155 after commissioners debated how the measure could affect downtown businesses, patrons and winter snow-removal operations.
The proposed amendment would prohibit overnight parking and other obstructions along portions of Main Avenue from Oct. 15 through April 15 between 2 a.m. and 7 a.m., a change supporters said would help crews clear snow in the downtown district.
