Washburn allows limited use of hall
The Washburn City Commission voted July 28 to allow limited use of Memorial Hall for the Clint Hill memorial dedication, despite ongoing concerns about the building’s condition following a severe storm damaging the facility days earlier.
Commissioners met in special session at City Hall to discuss the status of Memorial Hall after high winds and large hail from a July 24 storm tore away part of the building’s roof and raised concerns about potential structural damage. City officials previously reported movement in roof support beams and evidence of water intrusion following the storm, prompting city leaders to schedule the special meeting to consider the building’s future use.
The storm left widespread damage across Washburn, with downed trees, damaged structures and cleanup efforts continuing throughout the community.
