Washburn commission issuing apology to Sheriff’s Department
City leaders have voted 4-1 to issue a public apology to the McLean County Sheriff’s Department for “inappropriate comments” and “unfounded accusations,” made during the commission’s May meeting.
The letter Commissioner Keith Hapip, Jr., read aloud a drafted apology letter at the June 9 city of Washburn Commission meeting stating, “The unfounded accusations directed at your department by Commission President Mark Lelm were unacceptable and do not reflect the views or values of this commission.
