Washburn FFA members highly trained

By Michael Johnson, Editor

“I believe that American agriculture can and will hold true to the best traditions of our national life and that I can exert an influence in my home and community which will stand solid for my part in that inspiring task.” That was a portion of the FFA creed as read by Shane Giedd Tuesday night at the annual FFA banquet. While it may not have been written by him it was certainly something that he held true as he helped open the night of acknowledgement for the local club. One alumni member, Brent Petersen, spoke to the group about the importance of these lessons and how the students should take full advantage of the opportunities to travel and compete. Students were awarded one by one for their achievements in the year. The Star Discovery award was given to an outstanding junior high member, Hunter Kamrath. Hunter has an SAE in Turf Grass Management, was involved in fruit and wreath sales and crops judging CDE.
