Washburn School discusses pay raise

"I know it’s hard, as a board, to deal with this issue – voting and giving yourself a raise. But, you are dramatically underpaid."

Superintendent Brad Rinas encouraged Washburn School Board members to discuss and seriously consider giving themselves a raise at their July 22 annual meeting.

He said, "There should be no hesitation to approve this."

School Board President Rick Tweeten said, "I do know we are the lowest paid in the area, not that it matters."

This he reported after checking with Underwood, Wilton and Center schools.

Board member Sandi Erber said she felt members on certain committees are putting more time in than they are being compensated for.
