Washburn to hold a special election for open seats
The city of Washburn will be holding a special election later this year to fill two open seats on its commission.
During the commission meeting, which was held Aug. 11 at the Washburn City Hall, Commissioners Tim Dockter and Miranda Harvey both submitted their resignations to their fellow commissioners.

Both resignations were effective immediately following the commission meeting.
“Carol and I have purchased a home in Bismarck,” Dockter wrote in his resignation letter. “I am resigning my position as Washburn City Commissioner and Washburn Planning and Zoning Board member effective at the adjournment of the Aug. 11, 2025 Washburn City Commission Meeting.”
In Harvey’s letter to fellow commissioners, she has cited personal reasons for her departure.
