Wilton farmer in 2018 Rose Parade

One Wilton man will travel to Pasadena, California next week to represent North Dakota farmers in the annual Rose Parade.
Second-generation Farmer Casey Krush, of Wilton, will be one of 100 growers on the Ag PhD Salute to Farmers float as it makes its way through next week’s Rose Parade, themed ‘Making a Difference.’
Krush was selected by Ag PhD to take part in the float, which aims to call attention to the “unsung heroes of agriculture” during the event Jan. 1. Krush, who farms wheat, pinto beans and corn on a 6,000-acre farm outside of Wilton, said the work is gratifying both in how it benefits others and in continuing in his father’s footsteps.
“It is very important and a fulfilling lifestyle that I have been allowed to continue,” Krush said.
Krush, who learned much of the trade from his farmer dad, said being in the farming industry means keeping up with constantly-changing technology in order to be successful.
“Technology is the main thing (that changes). Technology from the equipment we run to the technology in the seeds we plant,” Krush said. “This is where Hefty Seed in Wilton has kept us on the cutting edge of high yielding and profitable crops.”
