With eyes on the 2016-17 school year, Wilton Public School is planning out its classes, activities and clubs, including one that may be spreading into the elementary.

Wilton science instructor Greg LaCombe spoke at the school board’s May meeting about the idea of bringing the robotics club to elementary school students.

"I’ve got two of my junior robotics kids that would be mentors," LaCombe said.

LaCombe said that there were three kits that weren’t being used anymore in high school robotics competitions, so these Lego robot kits should be utilized by younger students.

"These are essentially Legos," LaCombe said. Comparing it to the metal kits, he said the Lego robots would not last in competition.

"But it would last for elementary tournaments," LaCombe said. "I know some schools in Bismarck use these same models.
