Wilton selects new health plan

The Wilton City Commission approved a new health insurance plan for city employees and began discussions on the 2027 budget during its regular meeting Sept. 2.
Representatives Rich Skjonsby and Travis Vatnsdal of Missouri Valley Insurance presented health insurance options to the commission, along with payroll-deducted vision and dental coverage. Following the presentation, commissioners unanimously approved the Blue Cross Blue Shield Platinum 80 Plan for city employees. The new health insurance plan will take effect Jan. 1, 2027.
During commissioner reports, Bernell Hedstrom said he had worked with the city engineer regarding water sales from the city water depot. Hedstrom reported the review determined that water sales have not affected the reserve supply maintained in the water tower for fire protection purposes.
City officials also discussed filling the vacant public works position. The city has received three applications, and Commission President Dustin Clausen and Public Works Supervisor Dennis Dockter plan to interview applicants Sept. 10.
