Wilton’s memorial hall to receive new roof
Wilton City Memorial Hall will be getting a new roof and will be funded by the Sales and Use money.
During Wilton City Commission meetings held in August, commissioners unanimously approved to moving forward with plans for a new roof for its memorial hall.
Commissions at the Aug. 6 meeting approved an estimate from Precision Services to re-roof the hall for $94,833.53.
“It was noted that the cost could be reduced if the city could find someone else to remove the old roof, and also by using the city landfill,” meeting minutes from the Aug. 6 meeting stated.
At that time, the commission was also going to put in a request for funds from the Sales and Use board for the project.
During the Aug. 20 meeting, the commission stated the board approved the request for funds, and the city provided a down payment to Precision Solutions.
“Work is expected to start in October 2025,” the minutes stated.
On July 16, Mike Schmidt told the commissioners due to cost, a pitched roof was not financially possible, and stated he, along with Lisa Hestrom, would reach out to contractors to get estimates for a flat roof.
