Working for the summer

By Michael Johnson, Editor

Summer jobs. They are abundant, less than glamorous and often low-paying positions that usually require a strong back and an open mind. While most adults have found other jobs to keep them busy all year long, teenagers and students returned home from college to help to fill the jobs that come open every summer. Sometimes looked down on, these positions are a necessary part of the community. Without someone to mow the grass, clean the gum off the school desks and watch over the park systems, a town can go downhill in a hurry. Here’s a look at just a few of the many young adults that are busy this summer keeping Washburn a clean and fun place.
