Thirteen years of studying and perseverance will finally pay off for the Washburn High School class of 2014.

This weekend, 15 students will don their caps and gowns for a time of celebration, set to the tune of "Pomp and Circumstance."

The school will be honoring these fine, young students during commencement exercises on Sunday, starting at 2 p.m., in the high school gym.

Drew Petersen has been named valedictorian, the award reserved for the highest academic achieving student in the class.

He said, "I am honored to be the top student from such an intelligent class. I am proud of all the accomplishments my classmates have made throughout the years."

Devan Schell is the salutatorian and will deliver his address during commencement exercises.
