Beulah trips up Roughriders

On a hazy, smoke-filled Friday evening in Beulah, the Southern McLean Roughriders would take the field looking to keep the hot start to the season going, squaring off against the Beulah Miners, a team that they knew would be a big challenge, due to its rich tradition and large school size.
The Roughriders would get the ball first after receiving the open kick off. On their second play from scrimmage, quarterback Josh Laning would roll to his right and make a perfect throw to tight end Ethan Retterath in the flat, Retterath would make two would-be tacklers miss before hitting the sidelines and sprinting down the right side. Retterath would be tracked down by a Beulah safety deep in Miner territory, first-and-ten Roughriders, making the gloomy night suddenly look rosy. Unfortunately for SM, the drive would stall out, and they would turn it over on downs.
