Cardinals battle through busy Region Tournament week
The Washburn-Center Stanton Cardinals saw their 2026 softball season come to an end during the Class B Region 4 Tournament, but not before showing resilience with an elimination-game victory and a competitive effort throughout the postseason bracket.
The Cardinals finished the season with a 5-8 overall record after competing in three regional tournament games against some of the top programs in Region 4.
Washburn-Center Stanton opened tournament play Tuesday, May 19 against the Beulah Miners and ran into a difficult offensive performance from one of the region’s strongest teams.
Beulah scored three runs in the opening inning before adding four more in the second and erupting for 11 runs in the third inning on the way to an 18-0 victory in five innings.
The Cardinals were held without a hit in the contest, though Briana Laning managed to reach base twice with walks.
