Cardinals blank Mustangs in six-inning victory
The Washburn/Wilton-Wing/Center-Stanton Cardinals rode a late off ensive surge and a dominant pitching performance to a 4-0 shutout win over the Surrey Mustangs on April 26.
After f ve innings of scoreless baseball, the Cardinals broke through in the top of the sixth. WWCS tallied four runs on a series of clutch hits to pull away and ultimately secure the victory. Charles Sannes led the way both at the plate and on the mound.
At bat, Sannes finished 1-for-2 and drove in two key runs to spark the Cardinals’ sixth-inning rally.
On the mound, he tossed a complete game six-inning shutout, scattering three hits across six frames while striking out fi ve and working around five walks.
