Cardinals boys open season with strong 93-22 showing
The Washburn Cardinals boys basketball team opened the 2024–25 season in emphatic fashion Dec. 13, rolling to a 93–22 road victory over Mandaree in a Division B, Region 4 matchup.
From the opening tip, Washburn established control on both ends of the floor, setting the tone with aggressive defense and a fast-paced off ensive attack.
The Cardinals wasted little time building separation, forcing turnovers, pushing the ball in transition, and converting high-percentage scoring opportunities.
Washburn’s defensive pressure consistently disrupted Mandaree’s off ensive rhythm, limiting scoring chances and turning stops into points.
As the game progressed, the Cardinals continued to stretch the margin, showcasing depth and balanced play while maintaining intensity throughout the contest.
By halftime, Washburn had fi rmly seized command, and the Cardinals showed no signs of letting up in the second half.
