Cardinals split opening rounds of District 8 Tournament
The Washburn Cardinals kept their postseason hopes alive with a hard-fought opening round win before falling in the semifinals of the District 8 Tournament on their home floor.
Playing at Washburn on Friday, Feb. 27, the third seeded Cardinals edged sixth seeded Flasher Bulldogs 75-70 in a high scoring Round 1 matchup.
The victory advanced Washburn to Monday’s semifinal contest, where they dropped a 60-53 decision to second seeded Wilton-Wing Miners.
With the split, Washburn now prepares for a Region Qualifier game on March 3 in Washburn against New Salem-Almont Holsteins.
