Cardinals surge past Hettinger-Scranton
The Washburn Cardinals boys basketball team delivered a strong two-game showing last week, combining dominant defense with late-game composure to secure a pair of important victories that strengthened their position in the Division B Region 4 District 8 standings.
Washburn opened the stretch Tuesday, Feb. 10 with an emphatic 66-31 win over Hettinger-Scranton, a performance that reflected both preparation and execution.
From the opening tip, the Cardinals controlled the tempo and dictated the style of play, applying pressure that disrupted Hettinger-Scranton’s offensive rhythm and created scoring opportunities in transition.
Head Coach Joshua Sharp said the matchup played directly into his team’s strengths.
“We really liked our matchup with Hettinger because we felt our strength worked well against one of their struggles,” Sharp explained. “On film they really struggled with teams that picked them up full court which is what we do. So, we really liked this matchup.”
