Cards show no surrender

Cards show no surrender

Following an ice-cold first quarter that saw the Lady Cards fall behind 14-6 to the visiting Cowboys in the first quarter, the birds roared back and toppled their opponent 56-50.

With Brynn Hyttinen orchestrating the of fense, Washburn settled in at the end of the second quarter, as Dara Beck (15 points) and Ginger Goven (11 points) began hitting their shots from the free-throw line and beyond.

But the real fireworks were supplied by junior forward Kaylin Klindtworth (11 points), who caught fire with two buckets from downtown. And while many know her to be a lethal outside shooter with the unorthodox lefthanded delivery, No. 4 played a complete game by recording timely steals, rebounds and earning a couple of trips to the charity stripe along the way.
