Challenging conditions at Badlands Conference track meet

By Adam Thomas, BHG News Service

Move over mail carriers because the Washburn-Wilton track team is swiftly completing their rounds in conditions that might give even the Postmaster General himself pause. The Badlands Conference meet in Hazen on May 4 was assaulted by rain, sleet, and high winds, but the W-W track team didn’t stray from their appointed events on Tuesday. "We weren’t happy to compete in those conditions," said W-W Head Track Coach Shayla Sinclair. "But the coaches were glad to have the athletes go through this as a trial run, because you never know what regionals and state will be like - you have to be ready for anything." Even with the conditions as they were, there were plenty of Washburn-Wilton athletes placing in their events. Brian Tschosik ran a swift 11.53 in the 100m dash, good for fourth place and crept him ever closer to the state qualifying time. Tschosik also ran the 200m dash and took 7th place in that event with the time of 24.39.
