Cougars pounce, Miners fight back 52-20

By Brenda L. Shelkey

Despite being caught in the grip of the claws of the Heart River Cougars at last Friday’s football game, the Miners managed to stand up to the challenge and show the Cougars that they weren’t going down easily. Head Coach Jeff Frank could see that his team has learned to work together since the beginning of the season. He said, “The first half we came out and ran the plays that were meant to be run. We drew them off sides and kept them guessing where we were at.” In the first half, the Miners were able to execute their plays and responded to Heart River’s first touchdown with one of their own just a few minutes later. By the end of the first quarter the Miners were down 14-6.
