Defensive focus, late free throws carry Miners past Kidder County

A disciplined defensive game plan and steady execution at the free-throw line in the closing moments helped the Wilton-Wing Miners girls basketball team secure a 47-41 road victory over Kidder County on Tuesday, Dec. 16, in Division B, Region 4 action.
Knowing the importance of limiting Kidder County’s top scoring threat, Wilton-Wing entered the matchup with a specific defensive adjustment designed to disrupt the opposing offense and force different looks throughout the game.
“I put in a box-and-one the day before, because we felt that Zimmerman was the key to what they do,” said Wilton-Wing head coach Lisa Jenkins. “We felt that she had to touch it every time down the floor. The idea was to make other kids beat us.”
