Depleted Miners win convincingly in opener

By Adam Thomas, BHG News Service

It wasn’t the season opener that Wilton-Wing girls coach Lisa Jenkins was expecting, but she couldn’t be happier about the outcome. Missing a big chunk of her team due to not having enough practices, Coach Jenkins came out with a much younger team on Friday against the Drake-Anamoose Raiders. Despite missing half of their team, the Miners were efficient on both sides of the ball and overwhelmed the Raiders to start the year off with a win, 64-35. Eleven players were ineligible to play in this game because of a volleyball trip that stranded the group in South Dakota for an extended period, resulting in missed practices on the basketball court.
