District 10 Tournament

The first day of District 10 volleyball tournament took place on Monday pitting the Washburn Cardinals against the Garrison-Max Troopers and the Wilton-Wing Miners against the Turtle Lake-Mercer-McClusky Trojans.

Neither match lasted beyond three sets in the tournament’s first round with the higher seeds overpowering their opponents.

The night started with Washburn taking on Garrison-Max.

Leading to the loss of the first two sets for the Troopers was their inability to stay in control of the ball. When getting the chance to serve, the Troopers frequently hit it either out of bounds or into the net, making it extremely difficult for the team to build up any kind of momentum.

Meanwhile, Brandi Holznagel and Kaden Schulte had the hot hands for the Cardinals with Kenady Hansen providing the upfront pressure with some monster blocks.

The first two went to Washburn without much trouble 25-16 and 25-16, but things got interesting in the third set.

The Cardinals played from behind for most of the set but tied it up at 20-20. As the teams played past the normal 25-point threshold, it became the set that nobody wanted to win.
