Beautiful weather and tons of fun events drew out families from around the area to enjoy the fish hatchery at the Garrison Dam.
This “Fun Day” featured face painting, pond fish, monarch butterfly life stages, rock painting for a rock garden, and other events.
The purpose of the Fun Day was to draw out kids to have fun and learn more about what the hatchery does.
“This I the second year we’ve done this,” Toni Ganje, administrative assistant at the Garrison Dam National Fish Hatchery, said. “We hope to make it an annual event, that’s our goal.”
Ganje said that, this year roughly 700 people signed in for the Fun Day, adding that there were likely more people who were not recorded. About 400 people attended last year’s event.
“Our goal is to give the kids something to do here on Memorial Day weekend,” Ganje said.
