The Southern McLean Roughriders girls finished fourth in the Region this past Saturday at Standing Rock.

Not exactly where she had hoped the team would finish, admitted Roughrider coach Laura Tweeten, who was named the Region Coach of the Year.

But she’s not worried about it. There’s a method to her madness.

Kate Fox is the Regional Champion, winning the 4K race with a time of 16.15, and was joined on the All-Region team by sixth-place finisher Brooke Tibke, who placed ninth with a time of 17:49.

The Roughrider girls were behind champion Bowman with 97 points, Watford City with 112, Killdeer with 116, while Southern McLean finished with 122 points.

In boys’ action, Cole Boysun paced the Roughriders with his 10th place finish, finishing the 5K with a time of 19.38. Teammates Tucker Johnson and Coltan Hytinnen also took All-Region honors, placing 13th and 16th, respectively with times of 20:02 and 20:18.
