The Wilton-Wing Miners girls basketball team headed into the start of the 2015-16 Monday night against the Strasburg-Zeeland Clippers, looking to build on the promise that returning four starters offers.

Of course, first game jitters effect everyone, but because of said returning experience, the Miners were able to push through the nerves and take an early 12 to 6 lead to end the first quarter.

"Both teams were really sloppy the first quarter," said Miners head coach Lisa Jenkins. "We got a lot of good looks and took good shots, but really shot poorly from the field, but once we settled down things got a little bit better offensively," Jenkins said.

The second quarter would spotlight those sentiments, as the Miners lit up the score board for 20, while holding the Clippers to 7 points in the quarter. Going in to halftime Wilton-Wing held a 32 to 14 margin.

The onslaught continued in the second half, as the Miners would torch the nets for 22 points in the third quarter, while holding the Clippers to 4 points in the quarter, ending the third stanza up 54 to 18.
