For their last June game, Post 12 took on Linton-Wishek. Post 12’s starting pitcher Tristan Jacobson immediately hit the strike zone, and sent a pop fly to right, where it was caught. The next batter hit past second base, taking first. He would attempt to steal second on the next batter, but a throwdown between catcher Lyle Whitley and second baseman Owen Patterson would beat the steal. The same batter would become Post 12’s third out before they would be up to bat.
Center fielder Peyton Hall would lead off for Post 12, but would strike out swinging. Left fielder Landre Sondrol would bat second, hitting a strong pop fly to right field, earning himself a double. Whitley would walk to first. Shortstop Reed Backman would strike out, but not before Sondrol stole third, putting himself in scoring position. Third baseman Tyler Kulzer would walk, loading the bases. Unfortunately, Jacobson would strike out on a full count, ending the inning.
The second inning was a successful one for Post 12. Linton-Wishek’s first batter hit a pop fly to center field, where Hall would catch it with ease. The next batter would hit a pop fly to right that wasn’t caught, but right fielder Alex Retterath would throw the ball in swiftly, stopping the batter at second. The next two batters were struck out and thrown out at first respectively.
First baseman Landyn Miller was the leadoff batter for the second inning, where he put up a fight with a full count, earning him a walk to first base. Patterson would bat next, faking a bunt to assist Miller in stealing second. Still, Patterson would take a hit and walk to first. Retterath would be the first out for Post 12, but not before faking a bunt and assisting Miller and Patterson into scoring position. Hall would hit to first, becoming the second out for Post 12. A free base from Sondrol would load the bases. Whitley stepped up to the plate, hitting to the pitcher who would fumble the ball, making Miller the first run of the night. The inning would end with a force out at third.
