Loss at civic center caps down week for Lady Miners

By Adam Thomas, BHG News Service

To borrow a line from a song: ‘Mama said there’d be days like this.’ Sometimes those days can start running together to form a long week that just doesn’t go your way. For the Wilton-Wing Miner Girls basketball team, they had a week like that, finding themselves on the losing end of three games. Early in the week, the Miners faced district opponent Max on the road. There was no matching the Cossacks’ offensive intensity as they established an early lead and took the rest of the game to build on it. Down by 20 at halftime, there wasn’t much the Miners could do to get back into contention at that point. An all around effort gave the Cossacks the win with a final score of 60-46. Miner Senior Kaeley Schatz led Wilton-Wing with 16 points in the game. Then on Thursday, it was regional opponent New Salem. The Holsteins, having only one loss on their record so far this year, used their size to take control of the game.
